To celebrate his 50th Birthday, Colchester resident Andy Lee will be running the New York marathon on Sunday 7th November 2010. Novice runner Andy will be fulfilling a lifetime dream by running in the marathon and has chosen to raise money for Hospital Radio Colchester.
The course, which is 26.2 miles long, covers the streets of New York’s five boroughs, starting at the Verrazano-Narrow Bridge on Staten Island, going through Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx, before ending at the world famous Central Park on Manhattan.
Andy has only run one other full marathon before, when he ran the London Marathon in 2006 in aid of St. Helena Hospice. He has been training since early July and hopes to complete the course in less than six hours.
