Hospital Radio Colchester has received the prestigious “Trevor Porter Trophy” from the Colchester Fireswim Committee. The award was in appreciation of Hospital Radio Colchesters “Outstanding Contribution” to the Fireswim.
Steve Kerridge, Chairman of the Colchester Fireswim said “Hospital Radio has been providing round the clock entertainment for swimmers for nearly 10 years, helping people continue to swim, particularly in the early hours”
Receiving the award, Andy Thompson of Hospital Radio Colchester said “We did not expect this at all - the Hospital Radio team did the swim about 10 years ago and was given a donation following the event. We asked whether we could help out and the following year they asked us to provide music”. Mr Thompson added “We had such a great time we have done it ever since.

HRC will be providing poolside entertainment again at this years Fireswim on Saturday 30th September and Sunday October 1st 2006.
