Hospital Radio Colchester was invited to the Town Hall for a reception with the mayor to continue the events taking place this year to celebrating 40th years of broadcasting special radio programmes to patients in our local hospitals.

Over these years, many volunteers have helped us to provide our listeners with a variety of programmes aimed at entertaining patients and helping them stay in touch with their families, friends and the local community.
Our founder Chairman, Keith Southern, travelled from New Zealand to join us and we enjoyed meeting up with members past and present for an enjoyable evening of nostalgia and looking forward to the exciting future of the service.

Speeches were made by the Deputy Mayor, current Chairman Christine Bennett, founder Chairman Keith Southern.  A taste of the future was given by the current secretary, Andy Patrick. An anniversary cake was cut by Eric Southernwood and his granddaughter, who is following in his footsteps. Wine and a buffet were also enjoyed by those attending.

Photo displays and newspaper cuttings brought back memories and a video presentation and a demonstration of the new technology gave a insight into the future.

If you would like any of the photos of the event or are interested in coming to an open day planned for December then please contact us and we will send you all the details.
