Godfrey Thomas Marks 50 Years of Football Commentary

For over 50 years, Godfrey Thomas has proudly supported Colchester united and has commentated on nearly every home match for Hospital Radio Colchester.
On Tuesday night Godfrey received a presentation to mark his 50th year commentating on Colchester United for Hospital Radio Colchester.
In those 50 years, Godfrey has seen many changes, however his best moment was when he was part of the team that saw Colchester United defeat mighty Leeds. A particularly proud moment was during last season when he got to relive that event when Leeds visited us again at Layer Road. The commentary of that original match has been captured both on LP and more recently re-issued on CD.
Hospital Radio Colchester along with the commentary team represented by Ronnie Smyth (Football Commentary Team Leader) and Colchester United publicly thanked Godfrey for his dedication and presented him with a tankard as a show of appreciation for his many years of loyalty to Hospital Radio and Colchester United. Although not fully retired from commentating he has scaled down his involvement to allow new blood to flourish within the team.
